JOB DESCRIPTION

Island Attendant & Watersports Coordinator

Purpose of Role:
The Island Attendant & Watersports Coordinator supports the daily operations of the island across all departments and provides the guest with an amazing Watersports experience.

The duties of the Island Attendant include playing a hands-on role in delivering a smooth and polished experience for the guests by supporting all departmental operations with logistics, set ups, pack downs and upkeep. They are willing to work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of requests and are skillful in communication and prioritization.

As a Watersports Coordinator they hold extensive knowledge and experience in providing water sports experiences and instruction for the guests including, but not limited to: hobie-cat sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, Seabob instruction and guided snorkeling trips. The ideal candidate would hold at minimum their Powerboat Level 2 or equivalent, and STCW, to support various transfers between Buck Island and Tortola. They also play a hands-on role in the daily upkeep and regular maintenance of the island's dinghy. 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

Island Attendant 

  • UTVs 
    • To clean and maintain the UTVs  and island vehicles, reporting damage and maintenance issues in accordance with the island policies
    • To support by keeping track of parts signed out for maintenance to keep a record of what needs to be re-ordered
    • To support with driving the guests, team and supplies around the island
  • Deliveries & Errands
    • Collecting deliveries from the mainland and staging them in the correct area(s). 
    • Collecting water deliveries, returning empties and topping up the water stations around the island. Keeping the management informed on how many full/empties we have on the island and making orders when necessary
  • Boat Runs & Logistics 
    • Support all runs for the team, vendors & deliveries between Buck Island and the mainland.
    • Support in moving guests around the island via UTV
  • Gap Projects
    • To support in island maintenance, deep cleans and organization projects as requested by HOD & Senior Management  
  • Support with Beach set up/pack down & activities 
    • Setting up/pack down of areas used for guest sessions
    • Setting up/pack down of the beach furniture 
    • Setting up/pack down for remote off island set ups and boat days 
    • Setting up/pack down of dinner locations 
    • Setting up/pack down assistance pertaining to accommodation rearrangements
    • Setting up/pack down of Yoga, meditations, and wellness offerings 
 

Watersports Coordinator 

  • Guest Watersports & Activities 
    • Facilitate and instruct guests in the activities and watersports offered which you are experienced/qualified in while ensuring maximum enjoyment for the guests.
    •  Including but not limited to: 
      • Snorkeling 
      • Seabobs 
      • Paddleboarding 
      • Kayaking 
      • Hobie Sailing 
      • Volleyball 
      • Beach Olympics 
      • Island Hikes 
    • Ensure the presentation of the Watersports area (building and beach) is organized and professional.  
    • Adhere to the safety protocol of the Watersports department.
    • Store all watersports and activity equipment in its correct location.
    • Ensure that the gym equipment is in serviceable condition for guests. Clean, neat and tidy.
    • Ensure guests’ safety at all times and refer any requests regarded as unsafe or any guests refusing to adhere to safety issues to the Management team.
    • Ensure that all equipment is clean and secured at the end of each day. 
    • Ensure that equipment is accounted for and that all guests are safely ashore.  Conduct guest count as required.
    • Ensure that all necessary safety equipment is available and in perfect working order
  • Cleaning Boat & Boat Maintenance 
    • To clean and maintain the Aerial’s dinghies, reporting damage and maintenance issues in accordance with the island policies and instructions from Management  
    • To ensure dinghies are secured correctly at the end of the day 
    • To carry out servicing of dinghy engines periodically

To ensure the boats are fuelled and in working order

  • Support with Guest Arrivals/Departure bag logistics 
    • Supporting with the collection and delivery of guest luggage on arrival and departure days
    • Learning all of the rooms on the property, their names and location, to ensure a smooth arrivals and departure process

Training Initiative

  • Based on the employees’ interests a training and development plan will be implemented.
 

General Property Support 

  • To maintain an excellent standard of all guest areas. 
  • To ensure all furniture, games and decorations are tidied and returned to the correct location each day.
  • To have a keen eye for detail and organization within guest areas.
  •  To participate in creative setups for guest activities including bonfire setups, themed activities or meals, special occasions and birthdays.
  • To oversee guest visits to the island’s Giving Shop and process payments/record purchases
  • To support the Grounds team with the removal of waste and recycling as required.
  • When requested, to assist with off-island jobs such as procurement pick-up and any administrative tasks as requested by management.
  • Support with the island recycling initiative and waste removal - ‘Island Green Initiative’
  • Help maintain the island’s compost
  • Help with waste removal from the island 
  • Support with the islands recycling initiative
 

Other

  • To attend all meetings as requested by management and support the communications process
  • To maintain total confidentiality as to the identity of the guest staying on property
  • To have a clear working knowledge of the island’s policies and operate within their guidelines at all times
  • To cooperate with management and other employees to ensure a harmonious working environment
  • To respond to fire emergencies as stated in the fire procedures and undergo any training pertaining to emergencies and accidents
  • To dress in the Aerial BVI island uniform and be groomed when on duty. 
  • To assist in island/business preparation for a hurricane or other significant event
  • To assist with the island’s charitable activities
  • When off-island, to behave in a manner appropriate as a representative of the island

  • To undertake any reasonable project requested by a management member or homeowner
